Dr. Black has specialized in orthodontics in Asheville for more than 36 years. During that time he has helped people of all ages feel better, look better, and live better by giving them straight, beautiful teeth. He has also had the opportunity to assist his community in providing employment and creating lasting programs to support underserved children and families, including orthodontic scholarships such as Black Gives Back.
Dr. Black and his family are very involved in many of the community groups that make Asheville such a great place to live and work. In fact, the Asheville Chamber of Commerce has awarded him Employer of the Year as well as Small Business Leader of the Year. “While I love being an orthodontist, I’m most proud of my work within my community,” says Dr. Black. A sealant program for children in need started with the local health department and, with the help of volunteers and a local charity, Black Orthodontics is now providing over $100,000 annually in sealants. “Giving back to others and providing opportunities where my team can thrive is what I want to be known for,” adds Dr. Black. “I have had two recent long-term employees who are now working for international companies in the orthodontic industry, and I couldn’t be more proud of them.”
When he’s not busy creating beautiful smiles, Dr. Black enjoys time with his wife, Susan, and their three daughters, Michelle, Kathryn, and Sarah. He also serves on numerous local community boards.
Dr. Black received his M.S. and Orthodontic Specialty degrees from UNC-Chapel Hill and is known as a leader in the dental health community.
